The Badge – Bonus Scene

Val

Laughing across the large, wooden farmhouse table, I took in the scene in front of me. My mother was laughing and my father looked at me with a soft smile that pulled at my heart.

Kids were running circles around the table and screaming.

It was total chaos.

Evan had his back to me as he did dishes at the sink. The wide expanse of his shoulders hadn’t faded in time. In fact, he was just as fit as he was ten years ago when we’d met. Fine lines started creeping around the corners of his eyes and tiny streaks of silver hair started peeking out at his temples, but it only added to his sex appeal.

For a decade we’d lived happily as Evan and Val Walker. Together we transformed the house that Evan had purchased into a home.

“Mama, can we play outside? Please? Please? Please? Please?” my oldest, Mateo, pleaded. His cousin Molly was practically bouncing out of her skin behind him. I glanced over at my sister-in-law, Sienna.

When she smiled, I shrugged, “Of course, baby. But don’t go up the mountain path. Stay in the yard and be careful.”

His devilish grin grew by the second before they both took off out the back door and I knew we’d have to check in on those two in a matter of minutes. They were thick as thieves and always up to no good.

Evan’s hands snaked around my ribcage as he pulled me closer to murmur in my ear, “Hey, Mamacita.”

I smirked at the nickname he’d given me when we had our first child. Three kids later, they all called me Mamacita and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

His subtle, clean laundry and woodsmoke smell still hit me right in the core. I leaned into him, closing my eyes and absorbing his warmth. “Mmmm.”

“Careful, mami, or we’ll have another one on our hands.” My mother teased, although I knew full well that she’d love nothing more than another grandbaby.

I winked at my mother as she smiled at us. My parents still lived in Chicago by my sister and her family, they made it a point to come out to our remote Montana town at least twice a year. In all this time, we never returned to Chicago. At first there were so many questions, but as the years wore on, they faded into acceptance.

My mother was content knowing her baby girl was safe and happy and loved and I only had to suffer the occasional dig about the hardships of her traveling across state lines to see me. Despite the distance, she remained the heart of our family. My mother Gloria was a smart woman, she knew Evan and I had our secrets but I was confident she assumed it had to do with my career as a US Marshal rather than any connection Evan had to Witness Protection.

“So how are you feeling, dear?” My mother turned her attention to a very pregnant Sienna.

She rubbed her round belly and smiled as Parker pulled her closer to smell her hair. “Everything is perfect.”

My heart pinched for my brother-in-law and his gorgeous bride. They had been through so much together, but it seemed like once they’d gotten their first, Sienna could hardly look at Parker without winding up pregnant. Now, as tiny as she was, her body grew those twins like a champ. I was so happy for them, for all of us, that they found their way back to Tipp.

As the chaos and kids swirled around us, I couldn’t help but melt further into Evan’s side. He was my rock. Our lives were so intertwined that I couldn’t imagine a different path for me. I was meant to be Mrs. Evan Walker.

Evan leaned into me and kissed my hair before sweeping his lips against the shell of my ear, His hot breath had tingles racing down my back. “How long are your parents staying, again?”

“You’re terrible,” I chided, though a playful smile teased the edges of my mouth. I dipped my hand against the hard plane of his abs, teasing the thin skin just above his belt. “You know full well they’re here all week.”

A low growl was his only response.

I stretched up on my tiptoes to whisper in his ear. “Don’t worry, cowboy. I can be quiet.”

Heat surged through me as he squeezed me tighter against him. Even after ten years, through the hardships of building a life full of secrets, the flames of desire licked up my spine and settled, warm and liquid between my legs.

I am yours and you are mine.

Sienna moved to stand and a small grunt escaped her. Parker stood like a shot. “What is it?”

“Relax,” she said with a laugh. “I’m fine. Just hard to move around with all . . . this.” She gestured to the fullness of her pregnant belly.

“You need to lay down.” The furrow in Parker’s brow deepened.

Always the grump.

He turned toward us. “We’re leaving.”

Sienna only smiled as Parker left to round up their things. She had the patience of a saint when it came to Parker. His grumpy moods were no match for her sunny personality “Thank you, again, for dinner. Gloria,” she turned toward my parents who smiled lovingly at her, “Rogelio, it was a pleasure as always.”

My mother stood to wrap Sienna in an embrace. “Oh, conejita, I can’t wait to meet those sweet babies.”

We said our goodbyes to Parker and Sienna as he shuffled her to the car, with Molly riding proudly on Parker’s shoulders.

We waved from the doorway, our children throwing pitiful glances their way as the car drove down our secluded driveway.

I was filled with the warmth of content. My life was full of love, laughter, and adventure––all because I’d fallen in love with a man I had no business loving.

Hours later, Evan moved over me as our breaths panted with need. His cock stretched me open and it took everything inside me to not cry out at the delicious fullness that threatened to consume me.

Tears pricked my eyes as my climax rolled through me in waves. Only moments behind me, Evan pumped into me and ground his hips deep as my legs stretched wide to accommodate him. I could never get tired of how completely and all-consuming it felt to be fucked by my husband.

Sated, I reveled in the weight of him on top of me. Overcome, a single tear rolled down my cheek. Evan’s wide palm cupped my face as his thumb brushed the tear away.

“Hey,” he spoke softly, “what’s going on?”

I smiled at him through the darkness as I whispered, “I’m so in love with you.”

Evan shifted his hips, his cock sliding out from me. My body still hummed for him. He was tender and strong and warm.

“I know I don’t deserve you or your love.” When I went to protest, he continued, “It doesn’t matter what you say. I know the truth. You are the light that chases away my darkness.”

My quiet voice pierced the cocoon of our bedroom. “I don’t see any darkness.”

He brushed my hair away as he kissed my face over and over. “That’s because every day, I turn toward your light.”
